Surname Registration

Generally:

According to the new regulations on Domestic Law, the parents are obliged to have mutually and definitely decided upon the surname of their children (that can be either of the one or the other husband or the combination of more than one surname). If the registration of the surname is omitted, the children are given the name of their father.

Proper Authority:

The Registration is made before the wedding either to a notary or to the priest that will perform the ceremony of marriage, who ought to ask for the registration.
