A small review of the truly important services and programmes of the Social Work, is up next:
Supportive programme for the indigent and economically weak citizens
The Programme was aiming at the economical support of the citizens and their families at the hour of need. A special account of Solidarism has been opened.
A recommendation of the Social Service's Worker precedes every support, after investigating the habitability conditions of every family, followed by the decision of the City Council.
Voluntary Blood Donation - Blood Bank Creation
The target was to create a lending blood bank and to increase the number of voluntary blood donors. To this day, 5 blood Donations have taken place (20/12/1999, 17/9/2000, 22/12/2000, 15/11/2001 and 21/12/2001) with 186 citizen participating, while 15 emergencies have been attended to. The contribution of the 2nd TEE (Technological Trades School) has been very significant, thanks to the consideration of its headmistress and to the contribution of the headmistress of the 1st High School, that provides us with the place, where the blood Donation is being held.
Information & Support of Citizens' Programme
The Programme has to do with informing and supporting people and their families, on the level of psycho-sociological support and supporting them on utilizing various welfare benefits, given by different Services. To this day, 101 interviews have taken place, discussion with 36 families, with 26 different persons. We worked with the Public Authorities in 149 cases, citizens have been escorted to medical and welfare services, food is being distributed to economically weak families, in co-operation with the 2nd Boy-Scouts' system, private citizens and the "Smile of the Child" organization. But for the correct continuation of the Programme we need specialized scientific personnel to cope with "difficult" incidents (drug and alcohol users) as well as the set up of psychological support programmes.
In addition to the Social Service's Programmes, the Municipality of Kessariani administratively and economically supports (to quite an extent) the function of Social Programmes such as:
